We are excited to announce that Pilot is now third-party lab tested and CASA certified.
Data security has always been a top priority for us. Now, with the backing of Google’s partner, TAC Security, we’ve achieved official certification after passing a rigorous independent security review.
What is the CASA Certification?
Our Cloud Application Security Assessment (CASA) ensures that cloud applications meet high-security standards, verified through an independent audit. Our audit was performed by TAC Security, an App Defense Alliance (ADA) Authorized Lab and Google’s only recommended and preferred ADA CASA Assessor.
The CASA assessment framework is based on these four pillars:
- Industrialized standardization: CASA is fully aligned with the The Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) Application Security Verification Standard (ASVS), meaning there are no proprietary requirements or confusing security jargon
- Consistency: Every application is evaluated using the same CASA criteria and assessment procedures.
- Transparency: The requirements, assessment methods, and approved assessors are transparent and accessible to all stakeholders.
- Risk-based: The depth of testing and security validation is tailored to the specific risk level, moving away from a one-size-fits-all approach.
Why is the CASA Certification important?
In June 2024, Google introduced additional security measures for developers requesting certain functionalities and accesses in Google Drive. These measures require developers to undergo third-party auditing and testing to ensure their applications prioritize user safety and data protection.
Since Pilot is dedicated to becoming the most secure and reliable tool for Google users, pursuing CASA certification was a clear choice. It’s another step forward in our mission to deliver a secure and seamless experience for our users.
